Jamaican coffee

Jamaica certainly realized the value of this precious commodity and took great steps to protect its name. In fact, Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee has been protected by certification world wide. So if you were to be in another country that purported that Jamaican blue mountain coffee was grown there this would be a fallacy. If one just does not feel they can enjoy this Jamaican coffee but enjoys liqueur then the next time you are sipping on a Tia Maria coffee liqueur you are in fact enjoying the beans of this exquisite crop because they are the flavor base for the Tia Maria coffee liqueur. You are just consuming it made another way that’s all. With the growth in popularity of this coffee so has the price, but this is not a deterrent to the avid coffee drinker. In their opinion for what it has to offer is well worth the price to acquire it. So what makes the Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee so special? The answer is because it is grown in all the right conditions, which gives it its perfection. It is grown at the perfect altitude that coffee beans thrive it. The Blue Mountains are some of the highest Caribbean mountains to be found. The region where the coffee bean crop is growing is cool and has a high rainfall, which often creates a mist. There is excellent drainage for the soil, which is rich in its components. As you can see the ideal scenario for coffee bean crop growing. As we mentioned there are very strict regulations that the Blue Mountain Coffee must meet in order to earn the Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee name. For example tradition has it that the coffee must be grown only at elevations between 3,000-5, 5000 feet to qualify. If the crop is grown at elevations between 1,500-3,000, it is given the name of Jamaica High Mountain coffee. That grown below 1,500 feet earns the name Jamaica Supreme or Jamaica Low Mountain. Still excellent coffee is grown under these labels and considered high quality but not to the level of the Blue Mountain. This is just one of the standards set by the regulations. There are many others including the grading of the beans.
