Most people may not be aware of just how much coffee is consumed worldwide but if there were to review the statistics on coffee no doubt they would be shocked. It has been determined that half of the American population consumes this beverage in one of its many forms such as cappuccino, latte, espresso, ice coffees and of course the traditional way as well. One type of coffee though that is noting an increase in sales is the specialty sales as according to the statistics on coffee this now accounts for almost 8% of the yearly 18 billion dollar coffee market of the US alone.
Another interesting factor is that it would seem for the average individual one cup of coffee is just not enough in the day, in fact, most of us drink at least 3 cups per day. It has been estimated that there will be over 50,000 coffee shops by the time we reach 2010 for America. If one were to ask if the coffee business were the right one to get into its obvious by these statistics on coffee that the answer would definitely be yes. Especially if you take into account that just an average drive through that serves espresso, sell about 200-300 cups of espresso including other varieties on a daily basis. The men don’t seem to be as frugal when it comes to the cost of coffee as much as women do. Perhaps this has to do with them being the budgeters of the family. - With the exception of espresso a normal coffee cup would be about 9 ounces. -Coffee has always been considered a start of the day beverage and this holds true when the statistics on coffee shows that 65% of the coffee consumed takes place at breakfast. Then following this is 30% is enjoyed between meals whereas only 5% is used during other meals. -Statistics on coffee show that the majority of people like to add either cream, milk, and/or sugar to their coffee but 35% prefer it black. - Its interesting to note that both men and women feel they derive different benefits from coffee. Women find it calming, whereas men find it a “quick pick me up“. Although coffee is a widely consumed and a most favored beverage around the world, the Americans hold the title of being number one for the most consumption of the drink. They average about the consummation of 400 million cups per day according to statistics on coffee. Its brewed coffee that is the most popular but espresso holds its own with sales averaging about 31% of what is consumed. One shudders to think about what the mood of America or any other Country for that matter would be like if coffee were not longer available.
