The coffee beans come from what is called cherries, which form on the plant. If you are self growing then once the cherry was matured and healthy looking you would pick the cherry and hand crush it. Then it has to be washed and then fermented. Next, the beans would need to be washed and dried. This part could be done on a mesh screen in open air. Remember though the right climate conditions have to be simulated by you. You can achieve this by using indoor plant lighting. There is one thing though that you need to keep in mind if you are growing your own coffee and that is you must be patient as it will take about two to three years before you can pick the cherries, and even then don’t expect the perfect cup of brewed coffee unless you live at a high altitude. Most likely, you are not going to want to go to all the work and trial and error of growing your own so you will start at choosing the bean that has the characteristics that you want in your coffee. Many individuals enjoy coffee blends, but don’t realize there are several categories that blends come under. Blends are made by combining at least two if not more quality coffee beans. If you are buying a signature blend then it means you are buying a brand that has been specifically blended for that particular company. You will not be able to buy this blend elsewhere. If you have purchased a consistency blend then it will contain a large variety of beans. Reason being is if one bean is not available, it can be replaced with another and will not be all that noticeable in the final product. Finally, you can also buy single origin blends. As the name may indicate this means that you are buying coffee that has been made with beans from one specific growing location. This is the easiest way of learning whether coffee from a specific place has all the characteristics you are looking for. It helps when on the search for the perfect cup of coffee to know what regions are best known for their coffee. This usually indicates that you are going to find superior high quality coffee even if it is not to your personal liking.
